Sunday was Palm Sunday. A day of adulation and praise. A day of "Hosanna in the Highest" A wonderful "feel good" day. We like Palm Sundays...they lift us and make us feel good. Jesus, however, was not to be seduced by Palm Sunday. He came in humility knowing what he faced. In the next six days he was to face integrity (cleansing of the Temple), real values (the Temple is not where it is at, it will be destroyed), betrayal (money can distort our loyalties), denial (it is hard to put yourself at risk in front of a crowd), anger screaming all around you, false accusations, and finally feeling alone on the cross (My God, My God...). In it all he maintained his integrity, was true to his deepest divine self, was true to God, and experienced the power of the resurrection.
As we go through this week. Let us pray for the strength that whatever the external situation of life, whatever the trials, whatever the pain, we are true to our deepest self, true to God. And like Him feel the power of the resurrection. |
