Resolutions for Life
By webmaster @ 7:00 AM :: 356 Views :: 3 Comments :: Dr. Arthur Caliandro

Most people have a memorable phrase, something that strikes a chord and becomes a guidepost for living.

I was affected by such a phrase when in my twenties and seeking standards for my life. It came from the lips of a young woman as she was telling me what her preacher had said once in a sermon: “Never betray the best that is in you.” This thought is at the forefront of my mind and constantly challenging me. You may even want to take a step beyond that and life so that you don’t betray the God that is in you.

My predecessor, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, often spoke of the businessman who saw him as a young minister fumbling for a sense of self. He took Dr. Peale aside and said, “Norman, never build a case against yourself.” The lesson stuck. I never saw him do that.

If you don’t have a memorable phrase that speaks to you, why not adopt one or both of the above? You will begin to emerge as the person God wants you to be – the person you want to be.

"Never build a case against yourself." That is a great one, we so often, well maybe I , so often stop myself from succeeding before I begin something - because of that voice. "You will embarrass yourself.....you cannot do it..etc."

We have to remember that God is our greatest cheerleader, who wants us to have an "abundant life." Not of physical riches, but love, and richness of spirit.

Thank you for leading us to remember this fact.

It's like a gigantic law firm with endless and tireless resources submits such a case, against me, against all of us, all the time.

There is also a hall of Justice and of Peace, Clarity, Counsel and Reassurance, and its open all the time.

"Eyes On God" is a phrase that was given to me.

What attracts my attention finds its expression through me. Like wise what I put my attention on does too.

For example; when "the law firm" (sorry lawyers), attracts my attention my expression is worry, doubt, greed, aggressiveness and even overwhelm.

When present, in the moment, "eyes on God," casts my attention towards God, and inward. My expression and experience is one of ease, peace, reassurance, compassion, humor and love.

My outer world is altered dramatically and fairly quickly too.

And regrettably, I'm not always in the moment.

Arthur, thank you for putting me in the moment, even if it lasts for just a minute.

Like a snow ball it builds as it rolls. Same thing with my experience of eyes on God.

Thanks again !
