Thank You and Farewell

This blog is hard to write. It is my last blog.

As you probably know, I am retiring from Marble this Sunday, May 31. Some time ago, Dr. Caliandro asked me if I could help out on a part-time basis. Be here two days a week and two Sundays a month. This would be about 4 to 6 months until a permanent person was hired. That was six years ago. Six years in which I have been richly blessed by a staff and congregation of wonderful people.

During that time I worked with the Men's Ministry, Connection, Pastoral Care, Family Worship, the 60+ Fellowship on Wednesdays, Divorce and Grief Recovery, Confirmation, and was honored to be a part of the search process that found Dr. Brown. I have been blessed.

What will I be doing? In early June, my wife Judy and I will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary. During the summer, I will spend a great deal of time with my 7 grandchildren, and I will be working on a book on parenting. In between I plan to do some fishing, and Judy and I will be doing some traveling with friends.

As I think back over my professional life -- 53 years of ministry, including 37 years as a Pastoral/marriage/family therapist -- God has been good.

It is hard to say good bye...and in fact beginning in September I will probably be at Marble one day a week to teach parenting, do counseling, etc.

Thank you...thank you, each one of you for your love, your support and for being the amazing person you are.

Bill,
My family and I just wanted to post you to tell you how dearly you are going to be missed. You have helped us through some very tough times and I am happy to say that your love, concern and assistance are reaping great blessings. We've been out of the scene for sometime now due to many factors; the baby, workload, etc. But we have great news, we're christening our daughter Jewell Raven on Oct 11 and I would love for you to be there. We are preparing to attend regularly again and to reestablish our relationship with Marble. Also, I've received tenure at the school where I've been teaching for 3 years and am in the process of receiving full certification. Tracy is working towards being an assistant principal. The boys are making plans about colleges and the youngest is walking, talking, and socializing. Our marriage is strong and we face life's challenges with optimism and understanding. I hope that you're handling retirement well and I would love if you would drop me a line every now and then. You are a truly good friend, Bill, and we, especially I, wish you the very best.

With great and sincere love to you and your family,

The Person Family
