Children, Youth, and Families

Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39.

The Children, Youth and Families Ministry inspires children and youth to develop a loving relationship with God, Jesus Christ and their neighbors through creative and age-appropriate activities that include learning about the Bible, studying our shared Christian history, service to others and fellowship.

Children and youth experience the power and presence of the Holy Spirit through worship, prayer, contemplation, music, visual arts and drama. We welcome all families with children 18 and under to our ministry!

Pre-K through 3rd Grade
"Godly Play" is an exciting scripture-based study that borrows from the principles of the Montessori teaching technique.

4th–12th Grades
"Gather Round" is a Bible-based curriculum nurturing children and youth in becoming followers of Jesus, people who know and love God, interpret God's word, belong to God's gathered community, and share God's good news.

EXPLORING THE SPIRITUAL LIFE OF CHILDREN
Sundays at 10am

Parents’ Group focuses on equipping parents and guardians with the spiritual tools to raise their children rooted in Christian values in a secular world.

We will discuss questions such as “How do we understand our children as spiritual beings?” “Do children go through different stages of spiritual development?” “How can we best support our children in their spiritual growth?”

All parents/guardians are welcome; no pre-registration is necessary.

FAMILY WORSHIP
Sunday, March 7 | 10am

Join us in Bay Hall for this creative and spiritually moving worship experience in which the children and youth participate in all aspects of the service, including singing, praying, and ushering. You don’t have to be a parent or child to attend – all are welcome.

Parents' Group
Sunday, March 14 & 21 | 10am

“Talking with Kids about Jesus” is our theme for discussion, led by Rev. David Lewicki, two Sundays during Lent. While children attend Sunday School or childcare, adults meet over coffee/tea to discuss their shared journey as parents and explore the spiritual lives of children.

All parents/guardians are welcome; no pre-registration is necessary. Meets on the 6th floor.

PALM SUNDAY
Sunday, March 28

Families are encouraged to attend 9am worship in the Sanctuary for our family-friendly service with participation from the children, youth, and families of Marble. Sunday School classes and Children’s Choir resume immediately following worship.

CONFIRMATION CLASS
Sundays, Jan 31-May 16

In the Reformed Church in America tradition, it is common for infants and young children to be baptized into the faith. Confirmation is the process of a young person affirming the vows made at baptism at an age when he or she has reached the maturity to do so.

It is a significant milestone in their spiritual journey. All youth, Grades 9-12, are eligible to be confirmed.

A Confirmation Retreat will be held the weekend of February 5-7 at Warwick Retreat Center in Warwick, New York.

The Church School Choir program is designed to develop, from a very early age, the music skills and sense of spirituality that are an integral part of Christian choral singing. Song, rhythm, and musical instruments are key elements of the Toddler music class. Youngsters are then guided through four individual choirs according to their age. Each choral experience offers children the opportunity to further their musical abilities and deepen their faith through song.
