Children, Youth, and Families

Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39.

The Children, Youth and Families Ministry inspires children and youth to develop a loving relationship with God, Jesus Christ and their neighbors through creative and age-appropriate activities that include learning about the Bible, studying our shared Christian history, service to others and fellowship.

Children and youth experience the power and presence of the Holy Spirit through worship, prayer, contemplation, music, visual arts and drama. We welcome all families with children 18-years-old and under to our ministry!

Pre-K through 3rd Grade
"Godly Play" is an exciting scripture-based study that borrows from the principles of the Montessori teaching technique.

4th–7th Grades
This year, our 4th through 7th Graders learn about God's loving justice and people who've experienced God's grace with our Buzz Curriculum.

Teens on retreat

Youth (8th–12th Grades)
Youth (Grades 9th-12th) meet every Sunday morning to discuss and explore issues relevant to their lives. They also meet at various times and places during the year for fun, friendship, and outreach. Together with our Youth Leaders, youth will create a path to lead them on their faith journey.

This semester, the lessons are based around the hit movie, Soul Surfer - the inspiring story of teen surfer, Bethany Hamilton.

PRAYER AND PARENTING

Parents and guardians come together to pray and to discuss the book Grace-Based Parenting by Tim Kimmel. Books are available during the group for $8 each. Led by Pat Ohikuare.

FAMILY WORSHIP

CYF’s Family Worship is a creative and spiritually-moving service in which the children and youth participate. You don’t have to be a parent or child to benefit from this inspirational celebration of prayer and music. All are invited. Meets in Room 600.

The Church School Choir program is designed to develop, from a very early age, the music skills and sense of spirituality that are an integral part of Christian choral singing. Song, rhythm, and musical instruments are key elements of the Toddler music class. Youngsters are then guided through four individual choirs according to their age. Each choral experience offers children the opportunity to further their musical abilities and deepen their faith through song.
