"Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
– Galatians 6:2
Want to learn to reach out and care for people who are grieving or experiencing other difficulties during times of great change and uncertainty? The Marble and Middle Collegiate Churches host a half-day Stephen Ministry Workshop (held at Marble Church) in which you will gain hands-on ministry skills through a sample of Stephen Minister training, deepen your vision for care and outreach, and learn how to bring the benefits of Stephen Ministry to your congregation.
In the first session of the workshop, “Ministering to Those Experiencing Grief,” you will learn about the grief process -- the stages of grief and how to minister to people in each of those stages. You will gain the knowledge and confidence to better care for individuals who are hurting.
The second session provides an introduction to the Stephen Series, a system of lay caring ministry through which congregation leaders can equip their members to provide one-to-one care to people in need. Since 1975, more than 10,000 congregations representing more than 150 denominations have implemented the Stephen Series.
Participants learn the nuts and bolts of the Stephen Ministry program and come away with caregiving skills to use in everyday life, as well as how to organize and train members of their congregation for caring ministry through the Stephen Series.
Pre-registration required by September 7. Register early as space is limited. Check-in begins at 8:00am on the day of the workshop; refreshments will be served.
