The Puzzle: Marble's Festival of New Work

THE PUZZLE: Marble's Festival of New Work
Monday, June 25 - Saturday, June 30, 2012

The Puzzle is in its second year! We are currently looking for plays, musicals, and the spoken word that illuminate the human condition staying within Marble Collegiate Church’s positive, inclusive, and welcoming nature. Last year’s festival brought together over 100 participants from across the country, over 500 audience members, and proved to be an eclectic, yet interlocking, mosaic of creative people and expression for the Marble Community and New York City.

If you are interested in submitting a piece of creative work for this year’s festival, download the application HERE and send it with your proposed project. Submissions must be postmarked by Monday, March 5, 2012.

Brian Hampton, Associate Director: ARTS
Brian Hampton

Brian Hampton (Director of Arts Ministry and Producer of The Puzzle) grew up in the arts in schools and churches in numerous towns and cities of Virginia before moving to New York City in 1996 to pursue a career in theatre.  After a long string of “struggling actor” jobs, he joined the staff of Marble Collegiate Church in 2002 and is now the Director of the Arts Ministry and Children, Youth, and Families and the founding producer of The Puzzle: Marble’s Festival of New Work.  Brian received his BA in Theatre from Christopher Newport University, and his Masters in Playwriting from Spalding University in Louisville, KY.  Brian is a working actor, writer, and member of both the Actors Equity Association and the Dramatist Guild of America.  As an actor, Brian has performed in plays and musicals both regionally and Off-Broadway.  His plays Checking In and The Jungle Fun Room have been produced all over the country, and his Christmas plays, The Christmas Angel Auditions and Shepherd High both received their premieres here at Marble Collegiate Church.  Brian believes in the arts both ministering to the artist as well as the audience, and sees artistic expression is one of the most creative ways to illuminate the human condition and to illustrate one’s own personal faith and point of view.
