Divorce Recovery

A nurturing support group for those who have been or are currently going through a separation or divorce.  Each session focuses on a different aspect of the process, with time for questions and sharing. Facilitated by an ordained minister and psychotherapist. Pre-registration is required.

Grief Support

Support for those who have lost loved ones in the past year or so and are struggling with grief but feel able to share in a group setting.  Facilitated by a professional bereavement counselor.  Participants are asked to commit to the entire 6 to 8-week series; pre-registration is required. Compassionate Friends

This group is for parents and siblings who have experienced the death of a child from any cause, at any age. Meets the second Tuesday evening of each month, 7:15-9:00 pm (enter at 3 West 29th Street). For further information, contact Dr. Bill Lutz, (212) 686-2770, x. 427.

Blanton-Peale Institute

Founded in 1937 by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and the eminent psychiatrist Dr. Smiley Blanton, the Blanton-Peale Institute is a Counseling Center providing psychotherapy on a sliding fee scale for individuals, couples, teenagers, groups and families. We provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management, marriage and pre-marital counseling, and divorce counseling. Secondly, the Institute is a Post-Graduate training center approved for licensure by the N.Y. State Education Department with programs in psychoanalysis that focuses on integrative theories of depth psychology, the symbolic nature of the psyche, and the spiritual dimensions of clinical practice. We also have programs in Marriage and Family Counseling and Pastoral Care. Students can achieve the required 1,500 hours of client work in our State-licensed clinic.
