Marble Connection
Young Adults in Their 20s & 30s
Led by the spirit of Jesus, Connection is a faith-guided family of young adults in which we pursue the highest levels of love, compassion, and service through engagement with the world and one another. All are welcome on this journey.

What We Do

Connection MenTo live in the Way of Jesus, we do five things:

  • Worship
  • Pray
  • Be in relationship with others
  • Learn
  • Serve

Sundays: Worship & Fellowship (11am-1:30pm)
Sunday mornings, we worship together. Following worship, we gather for an hour of spiritual conversation and fellowship. We introduce topics that help us get to know each other on a deeper level than simply asking, “What do you do for a living?” We share, laugh, talk, and discuss over a light brunch. Sunday is our touchstone.

Prayer
We are a praying family. We invite one another to go deeper into communion with God through prayer - whether you have an active prayer life or have never once prayed in your life! Many Connection members are prayer partners; we all pray for one another.

Relationships
We belong to one another and we enjoy spending time together. We bring a sense of joy and celebration to our journey toward Christ. Join us for a fun activity or a night on the town where you can meet new folks and deepen friendships.

2008 Young Adult Retreat

Learning
All of us are on unique journeys of spiritual discovery. Marble has several different ways for young adults to feed their minds: Bible study, small groups, or the Marble Curriculum (an adult education program).  Connection members attend events together and often plan our own.

Service
Jesus said that our greatness is found in our service. Service is not just volunteering—it is a life oriented to helping others. Connection members volunteer together, but much of our service is performed in our day-to-day lives. Spring mission trips allow us to take an active role in giving back to our local communities and other places in need.

6 Train to Astor Place or R/W Train to 8th Street

It's the most popular Connection event of the year!

Join other young men and women from Marble Connection and sing out (or just hang out) at our 2010 Karaoke Blowout at the beautiful new U2 Karaoke Lounge in the East Village.

Meet at the 3rd Floor lobby/bar at 8:30pm and come ready for a good time!

Advance RSVP is highly recommended as space in U2 Lounge's private rooms is limited so be sure to e-mail Servant Leader Gregory T. Angelo at and let him know you'll be there singing and laughing with the rest of us!
SUNDAYS AFTER WORSHIP

Connection no longer meets on the 4th floor every Sunday after worship.

We will meet the 1st Sunday of every month for topical conversations and faith sharing (next meeting, Sunday, April 4,  12:30-1:30pm).

Every other Sunday, we will gather in Bay Hall at the Connection table. This informal gathering time will allow us to meet and greet easily, and often leads to informal brunch and more conversation.

Come to Bay Hall every week, stop by the table to sign up for young adult events and service opportunities.

"HUNGER" FOR LENT
Starts Wednesday, February 17

Lent is a beautiful time to dedicate yourself to spiritual practices. Lent is the traditional 40-day period leading up to the celebration of Easter. It is a time to go on an inner spiritual journey, just as Jesus spent 40 days alone in the wilderness before he began his own ministry (Matthew 4:1-11).

At Marble our Lenten theme this year is "HUNGER." Hungers can be spiritual, emotional, and physical. Hungers lead us to the conclusion that we cannot always provide for ourselves everything that we need. Our hungers draw us to depend on others—on God above all, but also on friends and even strangers.

Download your Lenten "menu" that details some spiritual practices you might adopt this season. Three important details:

1. Choose a partner for your journey—it's better with a friend

2. Come to worship with your partner on Ash Wednesday, and make a commitment in prayer, asking God for help to see you to the end

3. Be part of a group—Connection will gather every Friday night (6-8 PM) during Lent at Marble for a small group time of Scripture, prayer, and friendship. Begins Friday, February 19th.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I’m gay, am I welcome?
Yes. Gay, straight, questioning, in transition - all sexual identities are welcome.  We share the journey together.

I’m over 40, may I come?
Connection is designed for people in their 20s and 30s and Marble hosts an active fellowship for 40s and 50s. However, if this is where you feel you "fit," you are welcome. Only a person’s behavior will preclude him or her from participating.

Is Connection a “singles” group?
No. Many of us are single and looking for the right person, but our time at Marble and with Connection is a spiritual journey - we ask that people get oriented spiritually before actively dating within the group. Many of us are already in a relationship (married and non), and attend Connection events with our partners.

Group of Connection MembersWill my political views be honored?
We are conservatives, liberals and everything in between. We listen to each other in love, and seek to understand each other.

Are you wondering about how to pray?
I like these two websites:

What is Your Approach to the Bible?

In short, we read it and seek the Holy Spirit and the fellowship of one another for understanding. We do not take the Bible "literally." The Bible can be tough to read and many of us are unfamiliar with it--here are a few suggestions to get the most out of this, most important, daily spiritual discipline:
