Advent - Friday, December 19

In those days Mary set out and went with haste to a Judean town in the hill country, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. - Luke 1:39

Christian art has represented this many times, but the scene is ours to imagine this day: two expectant mothers, one well advanced in her pregnancy, in a fruitfulness almost beyond her hopes, and the other just beginning, both caught up in a plan of God of which they could never have dreamed. Nothing will ever again be the same in their lives.

Is there a pre-Christmas joy we might want to share with someone today, in the spirit of these two joyous women?
