April 4 – Saturday

I stared, but there was no one to sustain me.
Isaiah 63:5

This is a hard day for that first community huddled together in Jerusalem, each one deeply conscious of his or her personal failure. Each has to work through the pain to recall His words of assurance and forgiveness. This is their day to apply those words to themselves. Jesus is gone, but His promises remain. They must help each other find what is needed or they cannot go forward. Grief alone is not an answer.

May our prayer today help us bridge the way from death to life.
