Lent - Tuesday, March 1

Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old. - Matthew 13:52

The scribes were responsible for writing down the great teachings that were not to be forgotten. Look at how Jesus underlines the fact that our treasury of important truths has to contain both the old – some of us would rest there forever – and the new – which is how we adapt and bring into the present what God wants us to do. This is such a challenge to every person of faith who wants to balance both in his or her life.

Our prayer today is for the wisdom to have both old and new in our treasury so that our faith might ever be fresh.
