Lent: Monday, March 13

When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases…
- Matthew 6:7

We so often worry about having the right words for our prayers, but that is really futile. God wants our presence, not long-winded and carefully formulated phrases. If it is in your heart then say it. Your prayers are not being graded, but rather heard. Be simple, direct and sincere. That is real prayer.

This day let us be as clear and honest as we can as we ask for God’s help to live more intimately with him.
