GIFTS Spring Intreat: Blessed Brokenness

The Marble Loft (274 Fifth Ave)
Saturday, April 21, 2018
9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Speakers: Rev. Elise Hanley, Rev. Elise J. Brown, Ph.D., Rev. Chad Tanaka Pack

“Jesus had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.” Luke 23:35

On the road to Emmaus, the resurrected Jesus revealed himself to the disciples. But the reveal occurred only after Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them. Only after the bread was broken were the disciples’ eyes opened. Brokenness led to blessing.

As LGBTQ people, we often have been broken by churches and other institutions, by loved ones, and by ourselves. How can our own brokenness—our broken spirits, our broken hearts, our broken bodies—lead to us to blessing? How can biblical stories of brokenness and transformation offer us guidance? How can we experience transformation that comes out of brokenness?

Join special guest speaker Rev. Elise Hanley, Executive Minister Rev. Elise J. Brown, Ph.D., and GIFTS pastoral adviser Rev. Chad Tanaka Pack for a day of study, worship, and fellowship.

Cost of $25 which covers the cost of a light breakfast and lunch. Scholarships are available.

Register Online Here or sign-up at the GIFTS table in the Loft on Sundays after worship or contact Don Piper.
