Join the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team and spiritual directors Rev. J. Elise Brown, Ph.D, Rev. Julia Johnson Staples, J.D, Nina Frost, Rev. Barbara Cawthorne Crafton and Chanelle Schaffer for a weekend of prayer, meditation and worship, a keynote talk, uplifting music and workshops, one-on-one spiritual counseling, swimming and free time to enjoy each other’s company. We will be in the company of amazing women who will be “finding grace in the wilderness using God as our guide.”

Departure Times:

  • Friday at 5:30pm: Bus departs from the Marble Loft; arrives retreat center at 8:00pm (approx.)
  • Sunday: Retreat concludes after morning worship and bus returns to the Marble Loft.

Costs:
Early Bird pricing by February 22

  • Double Occupancy with Private Bath: $250 per person – $285 after February 22 **SOLD OUT**

Fee includes lodging and transportation, Saturday breakfast through Sunday breakfast (4 meals), facility use charges, supplies and gratuities.

Facilitators:
Rev. Julie Johnson Staples, J.D., is a Collegiate Senior Minister serving as Executive Director of Intersections International in NYC. Throughout her career as a journalist, Wall Street executive and minister, social justice has been her passion. She holds a Th.M. degree from Harvard University and a M.Div. degree in Biblical Studies/Hebrew Bible from the Union Theological Seminary.

Rev. J. Elise Brown, Ph.D, is Executive Minister of Marble and Pastoral Advisor to the Women’s Ministry. Her passions include helping congregations create ministry plans that produce abundance and fruitfulness. She received a M.Div. degree from Union Theological Seminary in NYC, a Th.M. degree in Ethics at Chicago’s Lutheran School of Theology, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from The Graduate Center-City University of NY.

Nina H. Frost is a vocational counselor and spiritual director. A frequent speaker at churches, she also designs retreats and workshops that help people integrate Christian spirituality with challenges posed by career and personal transitions. She holds an M.A. in Spiritual Direction from General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church and was on staff at Marble from 2003-2012.

Rev. Barbara Cawthorne Crafton is an Episcopal priest, biblical scholar and prolific author. She heads The Geranium Farm, an institute for the promotion of spiritual growth. She serves as Marble’s Spiritual Teacher and was interim rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Metuchen, NJ. She was a maritime chaplain on the NY waterfront, and served as a chaplain at Ground Zero after 9/11.

Chanelle Schaffer is the Minister of Music and Arts at St. Thomas Reformed Church, Virgin Islands. She is a graduate of Stanford University and the MFA acting program of San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater. She has extensive performing and teaching experience, and has studied vocal improvisation with Bobby McFerrin.

Double and a few Single Rooms are available (discount for registering before February 22). Enjoy delicious buffets, family-style meals and attentive service. An indoor multipurpose Activity Center offers a competition-size heated swimming pool, hot tub and sauna, weight and fitness room, and a large gymnasium. Or take a stroll around the lake, follow nature trails and find a bench to relax and meditate.
