Suicide Prevention Awareness - Prayers of Remembrance and Hope

Marble Church
Sunday, September 8, 2019
12:00 am

Please note: the Gun Violence Awareness ribbons will move to 29th St.

Starting in September, purple and turquoise ribbons, the defining colors of the suicide awareness movement, will be adorning our fence. Nearly 800,000 people die by suicide in the world each year, which is roughly one death every 40 seconds. The suicide rate in the US has risen 30% in the last two decades, and suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death worldwide for those aged 15-24 years. This should not be viewed as normal or acceptable.

After Worship on Sunday, September 8, we encourage you to add a tag of your own to honor someone who you have lost, someone who has survived or is struggling, or to offer a prayer for the hundreds of thousands who lose their lives each year due to this epidemic. If you can’t be at Marble that day, tags will be available from our receptionist at 1 West 29th Street.

As followers of the One who calls us to love, we are committed to preventing suicide through awareness and offering help to those who need it. If you are struggling or know someone who is, please reach out:
