Day 14 of Advent: When the Saints...

As we move towards Christmas, I often think of the people in my life who are now amongst the saints and angels above.  Wonderful memories fill my soul...and some sadness that they will not be near me this holiday.   When the Saints go Marching in has been a staple at New Orleans Funerals for over a hundred years, although it was Louis Armstrong who brought it to the world.  There are hundreds of variations of the lyrics, so I wanted to share a few lines...We are traveling in the footstepsOf those who've gone beforeBut we'll all be reunited (but if we stand reunited)On a new and sunlit shore (then a new world is in store)Oh when the saints go marching inWhen the saints go marching inOh lord I want to be in that numberWhen the saints go marching inAnd when the sun refuse (begins) to shineAnd when the sun refuse (begins) to shineOh lord I want to be in that numberWhen the saints go marching inOn that hallelujah dayOn that hallelujah dayOh lord I want to be in that numberWhen the saints go marching inSome say this world of troubleIs the only one we needBut I'm waiting for that morningWhen the new world is revealedWhen the revelation (revolution) comesWhen the revelation (revolution) comesOh lord I want to be in that numberWhen the saints go marching inWhen the air is pure and cleanWhen the air is pure and cleanOh lord I want to be in that numberWhen the saints go marching inWhen we all have food to eatWhen we all have food to eatOh lord I want to be in that numberWhen the saints go marching inWhen our leaders learn to cryWhen our leaders learn to cryOh lord I want to be in that numberWhen the saints go marching inI have included 3 versions of the song to listen to and feel the power of the song.  So different, but so moving... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHCGNf7KaVQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v3xNnPQK9o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua9P5Ej8uoI“Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city.” - Revelation 22:14 Thank you God for the gift of my family and friends...Shared by Marcie Doll
