A Note to Self
Dear….
Since I was younger, something about sending and receiving letters has intrigued me. Today, I receive far fewer than in years past, but I wanted to write a special one for the season of Advent. So, I first considered it by my dear husband or a few of my friends who I know love to receive letters too. Then I thought of some folks I may have caused unkind feelings towards, but not my dog, who loves me more than I love her – maybe because I give out good treats? Oh wait, what about the grandkids, whom I have been short with at times and undoubtedly critical about their behavior…umm
Then it hit me! I decided to write a letter to me. In it, I would list all my faults and some positives, too, but I would tell myself to become more reflective and grateful for the endless blessings I receive daily, especially as our Lord’s birthday approaches. So, some of my blessings are the freedom to go to church whenever I want and share my spiritual side with family and friends. Given what is going on in our news today about Israel and the Gaza Strip, the sadness we are all feeling, and yet, we can’t experience what those low-income families are going through as we live in comfort. So, in closing, I am telling myself to pray more and hope that with the arrival of our Lord’s birth, there is no better time than to have peace in our hearts and peace in Israel. The power of prayer cannot be measured.
Love, Me
