The First Candle Has Been Lit

The first candle has been lit.

The waiting has begun.

The path for the “coming” has been set.

This candle is one of Hope,

A guiding light

Beckoning us to attend.

  We need.

   We long.

    We strive

  To see signs,

   To see symbols

Through our watching,

Through our waiting,

  That glint.

   That ruffle.

    That flick

Prompting us to attend.

We chafe in our watching

  To see signs

   To see symbols

Of that Holy Hope,

And that, this time,

There will be fulfillment

In the “coming”.
